Oak bowl

This bowl is made from oak
Oak is a common wood for bowls but I have found that the California Live Oak has a beautiful grain and deep brown color.

Yarn Bowl

Picture

This is my first Yarn Bowl turned from a large Big Leaf Maple tree taken down near my house. I hope there will be many more. Anyone want a Yarn bowl?

White Oak

Picture
This bowl was turned from a large Oak tree that came down a few miles from my house  in Western Washington. The segmented rim is Walnut. I turned this bowl while the wood was still green. When the rim was attached it was flat but as the bowl dried the grain moved causing the rim to warp slightly. It also opened up the grain providing for Turquoise veins to be inlaid.
